Aldones Nino

The Fossils series re-elaborates portraits formulated by the first generation formed by the French Mission in Brazil. Image of the works present in the collection of important cultural institutions, are crushed and photographed. Its revelation invokes the genre of the portrait not with the interest of registering the image of a power figure, but provoking its own status of existence and circulation. The materialization of these works is understood as part of the reflection and formulation of artistic practices that, explicitly, question expansionist, colonial and hegemonic legacies, with an interest in proposing questions and epistemological interlacing that reverberate today.
